This was my third year doing the PBC, and this was definitely my favorite year. I really liked the water stations. Also how fast you produced the results was amazing!!!!

I've heard about the "B" and to me it sounded like good fun that I seriously doubt would have the same "problems" today. I too would like to see the "B" return along with the so-called problem. Community spirit among young people would be a good thing these days. I also like the idea of the class of '65 getting involved in the PBC along with other local groups. It would help maintain the overall spirit of the event as it grows in future years. My biggest concern is that as it grows, it loses some of it's magic. We can't let that happen.

Thank you for continuing this event. As the story by Tom Hamilton stated, our family was going to do this race with or without an organized sponsor, Our family has lived in Bend since the 1920's. My sister Nan Joanis Carlson and my grandson Nate Brown enjoyed a great race this year. Keep it going and we will return each year.

I really enjoy this event, I have participated for several years now. This year one of my classmates from Bend Senior HIgh School, joined in, we are going to try and get more classmates from the class of 1965 to join in , have fun, and stay fit.
Thanks for continuing this wonderful event.
Many memories of my youth include Pilot Butte. Running up the side for as long as I can remember( until of course they stopped that) Helping with the "B" I say bring back the " B" we miss it. For those of you who do not know, we use to have a BIG letter B on the butte. IT WAS WONDERFUL AND WOULD sometimes turn into other Letters as a little prank might take place. There were always "parking" up there and pranks again would take place. Oh the memories.... Thanks so much for keeping this Butte alive and well.
Sincerely

Thanks for carrying on the tradition of this wonderful little race! It was very well organized, damned hard as usual, but a lot of fun!

Thanks Art. The funny thing is that there is almost a myth that this event if for elite runners. When Carol talked with a lot of regular hikers, they thought the event wasn't for them. Some of those pictures tell the truth. I think the videos will help too. And we're not ignoring the elite runners either. Next year you'll see more of them and I'm positive a new all time record will be set. Maybe someone will break the seven minute mark. Who knows, we might even get some competition for you! I won't be surprised if more than 200 people enter next year.

Bill, thanks for the special 96-100 category... again, I am flattered. Suggestion for next year. To get more public interest and more participants in PBC, perhaps more advance notice of the event would be in order... even signs at the kiosk in the parking lot would be seen by some 900 - 1,000 regulars on the Butte. I know some (newly) regular hikers who were not aware of the event.

What a fun race!! I tell everyone it is a race up an inactive volcano, but Wikipedia says it is an extinct volcano located in Bend, Oregon. It is a cinder cone butte.... So, how cool is it to say ya ran up that!!! Gonna work very hard to make next year my third try at an age group record. Thanks again for a well done event!!!
